Japan Gold number 1 is a super fine synthetic metalic thread. This may be used as a stitching thread.
Supplied in 40 m spools.
Number 5, fine Japan thread and number 7 medium Japan thread are supplied in 10 m skeins.
These thicker threads are intended to be laid on the surface and secured with couching stitches in a finer thread.
